Did You Vote?

Today is an important day in our nation.  If you haven’t voted yet, there is still time, and I hope you do it.  I take my kids with me when I vote, because I think it’s so important for them to see the process, and to get to experience that with me.

I voted for the first time in the 1984 election.  Ronald Reagan (most favorite President ever in my lifetime) won his second term.  That was the first time I had ever experienced the voting process.  My parents were Canadian citizens, so they never voted until they became American citizens in 1996.  By that time I had voted 3 times. :)

We have talked about this election as a family, prayed about it, researched the different candidates, and then voted today as God led us. We don’t trust in an election, or base our hope on who God puts in office.  Our hope is in Christ.  He is the hope of the earth…not America. Ultimately, God is sovereign, and in control of all things.  He sets up rulers and removes them.  What happens today is no surprise to Him, because it is already planned before the foundations of the earth…that brings me great peace on an anxious day!

I let my kids go into Halloween City the other day, as they were closing and had a 50% off sale.  My lovies LOVE to make live action movies together, and they wanted to see what they could find to make their movies better.  I laughed HYSTERICALLY as one came out with a Mitt Romney mask, and the other with a Barack Obama mask.  They were pretty funny.  They brought them right home and made a “debate” movie, with their dad moderating.  I haven’t seen the finished product yet, but the shenanigans that went on that evening made me laugh harder than the dollar store incident…remind me to tell you that story some day.  My lovies are seriously two of the funniest kiddos I’ve ever met.

I took a picture of them in the masks, and thought I’d share it with you.  They make me smile.

The man that God has chosen will win the election tonight.  Rest in His sovereignty, and be anxious for nothing…
