She Cracks Me Up….

This picture is the background on my laptop right now.  It makes me smile every time I look at it…she’s so funny!

Long Hair…

Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be the mom of a girl.  I always dreamed she’d have long hair, and I’d have fun doing different things with it.  The first part of that dream came true…the doing different things with it…not so much!

I am not very coordinated with my hands, unless you put me in front of a piano.  The most I could ever do with long hair was a pony tail :(.  BORING…

Last year I looked at a book Morgan has on different kinds of braids, and watched several video tutorials on how to do it.  None of them helped me.  I took Morgan for a hair trim one day, and our darling hairstylist demonstrated how to do a French braid.  I stood right there and watched her.  I came home and had to try it right away.  It didn’t turn out very well.  I kept trying, and I am happy to say that practice is helping me get much better at it!  I can FINALLY do a French braid! YIPPEE!!

Morgan has really long hair…like down to her waist.  If she doesn’t braid it at night, or put it up when she wears a coat, she gets HORRIBLE tats in it that make me want to take her straight to Brenda to have it cut off.  But her hair is absolutely glorious…I’m serious, it’s so pretty it takes my breath away sometimes.  I do NOT want to cut it off (I think her dad would divorce me…just kidding).  So being able to do French braids will be a great help in keeping the hair up and out of the way.  We learned how to do a few other easier braids from Morgan’s braid book as well…

These Are The Special Times…

She is 13 years old, and she will still crawl up in my lap, or crawl into my bed with me to snuggle.  I love it!

My Budding Artist…

Both of my kids love to draw.  I have several of their masterpieces all over my house. :) I love to display their creativity.  This is one of my favorite drawings by my daughter Morgan.  It is a picture of all of her cousins on her dad’s side of the family, including the pets. :)  I LOVE how she has Madison and Jake the dog sitting up in the clouds.  She never forgets Madison. :)  Even Sammy the cat made it into the picture.  Take special note that Morgan and Madison look alike.  Morgan likes to believe that if Madison were here, she would look just like her! :)  I love this drawing, and it is hanging in my office at church.

A Lovely Tea…

At our home school co-op this year, Morgan took a Keepers of the Home class.  She really enjoyed it.  The ladies taught the young girls manners, hospitality, things about keeping a home, and all of the girls had a great time.  Each girl made a darling trivet for their mom to end the semester.  Morgan gave me mine last week, and of course it has a giant butterfly on it…she knows how much I LOVE them.

This past Saturday all of the moms were invited to a tea with their daughters.  We sat out in the backyard of one of the teacher’s, and enjoyed fresh fruit, chicken salad on tiny pieces of toast, some desserts, and lovely iced tea.  The girls had to sit with their moms, and take care of any needs they may have.  It was really a lovely day, and a great end to the class.

Caught sweet Madeline REALLY enjoying that food! LOVE the red hair!

Just caught one of the other moms enjoying a strawberry.  I forgot I had my zoom lens on, but I like how it turned out.  I decided to have a little fun with it, and put a focal black/white effect on it.  I likey :)

It was a really fun morning, and I really enjoyed getting to have that special time with my daughter hearing about all she learned this semester, and just enjoying her company!  Thank you Katrina, Amy, and Ann for teaching these little girls to be Godly keepers of their homes!
